Santa Barbara County 4-H Presentation Evaluators

Thank you for your willingness to be a presentation day evaluator. This is a very important day for 4-H youth!
There are two valuable resources for evaluators. The California 4-H Presentation Manual can be viewed at http://4h.ucanr.edu/files/2193.pdf.  In addition, there is an excellent short traning video that you are highly encouraged to watch of a full youth presentation and completion of an evaluation sheet. This can be found at http://stream.ucanr.org/4h_FTP/PresentationEvaluator/story_html5.html

There will be a short traning session the morning of the event. Lunch will be provided.

Giving presentations helps kids develop many life skills including the ability to speak in front of a group, organize ideas, and create and use graphics to support the spoken word. Public speaking skills are ranked number one among the skill sets of professionals (Lucas 2004).
Good public speaking skills also help kids:
  • Discover an important component of leadership development
  • Increase self-esteem, self-confidence, and the ability to accept feedback
  • Expand skills for planning, preparation and performance
Your willingness to be an evaluator on this important day is very much appreciated! Thank you.
